Barbie lives in Barbie Land and then a story happens… apparently.

Global (17 December 2022) – Get ready moms (and dads) and anyone who loved Barbie growing up… cause the new live-action film is hitting our cinemas in 2023.

The upcoming film is directed by Greta Gerwig, who co-wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach. It is based on Mattel’s eponymous fashion doll line and serves as the franchise’s first live-action film adaptation after several computer-animated direct-to-video and streaming television films.

There has been a lot of talk about what the upcoming Barbie film will be about, but nothing has been confirmed so far. All we know is that Barbie lives in Barbie Land and then a story happens… apparently.

The film stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, respectively, with a supporting ensemble cast that includes Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, and Kate McKinnon.
