The South African has won his opening two matches in straight sets and is through to another Challenger quarter-final.

China (04 October 2026) – South African tennis player Lloyd Harris is giving himself another chance to make some noise in China, with the 29-year-old through to the quarter-finals of the Jingshan Challenger.

Harris has been building nicely on the hard courts over the past couple of weeks, and his latest run comes just days after he reached the last eight at the Chengdu Open.

He has carried that form into Jingshan, winning both of his opening matches in straight sets.

The South African began his campaign with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Canada’s Alexis Galarneau before producing an almost identical scoreline against France’s Luka Pavlovic in the second round.

That has put Harris into another Challenger quarter-final, where he will face American Andre Ilagan.

Harris and Ilagan have already met this year, with the South African winning their previous encounter in the final of the Brownsburg Challenger in August. Harris claimed that match 6-2, 7-6.

His current run also comes with Harris sitting at No. 125 in the world rankings. The South African’s career-high ranking is No. 31, which he reached in 2021.

Now, another quarter-final stands between him and a place in the Jingshan semi-finals.
