Tapiwa Mupazviriwo is about to start his second year at the University of Johannesburg doing a Chemical Engineering Degree thanks to incredible donors who made up the shortfall he needed to follow his dreams.
Johannesburg, South Africa (06 January 2023) – Tapiwa Mupazviriwo, born and raised in Zimbabwe, was accepted to study at the University of Johannesburg, enrolling in a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Degree. His first year was fully funded by the generosity of donors from The Angel Network.
Leading into his second year, the network offered to further fund his education, however, they were not able to fund it fully. A crowdfund was recommended and Tapiwa decided to set one up. He needed to raise R40,000 towards his second-year expenses.
“They will be assisting him again next year, though they are stretched and cannot pay the entire amount of almost R100K. Hence our request to all of you kind and thoughtful people out there to help Tapiwa reach his goal of R40K and make it all happen. Tapiwa is well on his way to fulfilling his dream to be the next Lewis Urry from Africa.” – Lydia Abel and Lynda Levetan
Tapiwa has proven to be an efficient and hardworking student. He earned distinctions in almost all of his subjects bar one.
“A more goal directed and determined young man would be hard to find. He showed his metal while still at school. He and his classmates setup study groups for physics, maths and chemistry in his final school year for all their fellow students when their teachers went on strike. They all passed with flying colours.”
His father, who works as a bricklayer in Zimbabwe, has been proud of his success. He shared that even while Tapiwa has been focused on his own studies, he has been committed to helping his siblings too!
Tapiwa’s dedication to family, his education and giving back is what inspired people to help him reach R40,000 for his second year. The money raised has gone towards the donation made by The Angel Network to make up the full tuition.
“Tapiwa has been overwhelmed by the incredible support and assistance he has been receiving. He has stressed how grateful he feels and that without the help of so many people he would not be able to continue he studies.
He has asked us to thank everyone who has been so kind and generous towards him.
Thank you, we too are filled with gratitude.”
The fund’s success is thanks to so many who believe in Tapiwa. His own success will come from this opportunity. We cannot wait to see how he thrives this year! The Angel Network will share any updates via their social media pages.
