Grade 8 learner, Alondwe Ndlovu, recently wowed audiences in Italy and Spain with her exceptional vocals, consistently placing among the top contenders, earning multiple 1st and 2nd prizes across various genres.
Kloof, South Africa (28 July 2025) – From the vibrant stages of international arts festivals to the intense battlegrounds of global sports championships and the demanding arenas of academic competitions, young South Africans are consistently proving that talent knows no borders.
And even when it comes to music, yes, you guessed it, we don’t disappoint!
Young songbird and St Mary DSG Kloof Grade 8 learner, Alondwe Ndlovu, proved just what a shining star she is after recently gracing the stages of the Sun of Italy Rimini in Italy and the Mediterranean Legends in Lloret De Mar, Spain.
She performed four songs and in Italy, earning her 1st Prize for R&B and Open, 2nd Prize for Broadway and Gospel. In Spain, Alondwe’s vocals continued to wow the crowds, securing 1st Prize for Open and Broadway and 2nd Prize for R&B and Gospel.
It was her beautiful rendition of ‘African Dream’ that earned 1st prize at both competitions, and was specially selected to perform at the gala awards ceremony.
According to her school, earlier this year, Alondwe also competed in the Stars of the Universe virtual international competition, where she garnered an impressive array of gold and silver medals in the Jazz, Gospel, Country, Pop and Open, and R&B genres.
“These achievements qualified her for the Italian Performing Arts Tour, and she was proudly awarded her national colours by the Federation of Performing Arts South Africa!
“Outstanding, well done, Alondwe! Your talent, dedication and grace are an inspiration to all of us at St Mary’s. We are so proud of you,” St Mary’s DSG said.
