From being discovered on a local radio tour to commanding the rugby pitch with a stunning rendition of the national anthem, Anaya Ngwenya’s rising singing journey is proving how a single moment of raw talent can ignite a dream and inspire an entire nation.
Johannesburg, South Africa (03 September 2026) – Earlier this year, Jacaranda FM hosted a month-long Feel Good Tour, which was a multi-province road trip held in May 2026 to celebrate its 40th anniversary on air.
During the tour, the station’s presenters travelled across Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and North West to broadcast live directly from local communities, schools, shopping centres, and venues. It was during one of these stops that the team discovered a songbird so talented that they just had to share her with the rest of the country.
Sixteen-year-old South African Anaya Ngwenya, popularly known as Anaya Sounds, blew everyone away on the tour with her incredible singing performance.
She made such an impression that Breakfast with Martin Bester invited her back for Friday Live, where she delivered a stunning rendition of Celine Dion’s “Power Of Love.” Since then, Jacaranda has held her as she takes South Africa by storm.
Recently, her journey came full circle when Anaya was given the opportunity to perform the national anthem at the Lions vs. All Blacks match at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.

Dressed in a beautiful black gown and poised with confidence on the rugby pitch, she opened the game with an angelic and impressively controlled rendition of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika.
A confident Anaya says the moment was a big one for her, but her nerves were at bay.
“I wasn’t really scared, but I did have a lot of fun. The event was simple and seamless. The moment flew by so quickly,” shared a composed Anaya on the Breakfast with Martin Bester show this week.
Martin and the team are incredibly proud of Anaya, and it’s not hard to see why. This is a star who is destined to shine bright!
