Rassie Erasmus marked his 100th Test guiding the Springboks in spectacular fashion as his team powered past New Zealand 43-28 in Baltimore.

Baltimore, USA(13 September 2026) – Four weeks ago, the Springboks were beaten 33-16 by the All Blacks at Ellis Park. Fast-forward three Tests and South Africa have won three in a row, saved their biggest performance for last and beaten their greatest rivals 43-28 in Baltimore. Now that is how you finish a series. And what a finish it was.

The Springboks produced a six-try performance at M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday, turning a slender 17-14 halftime lead into a convincing victory in the fourth and deciding Test of Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry.

They did it in front of 68,173 people too, the biggest crowd ever recorded for a rugby match in the United States, with plenty of green and gold filling the stands as South Africans turned up in numbers to support their boys on the other side of the world. It was also a rather fitting way to mark Rassie Erasmus’s 100th Test guiding the playing affairs of the Springboks. Under his watch, this team has given South Africans more than a few unforgettable rugby moments, and Baltimore can now be added to that growing list.

After that opening defeat at Ellis Park, South Africa responded with a 33-26 victory in Cape Town and followed it with a 29-24 win in Soweto. By the time they arrived in Baltimore, they were building momentum and they delivered their biggest score of the series when it mattered most.

The intent was there from the opening whistle, and although the All Blacks fought hard throughout the first half, South Africa kept coming. Damian de Allende and Morne van den Berg crossed for the Boks before the break, with Van den Berg going on to produce a man-of-the-match performance.

Malcolm Marx powered over for his 29th Test try and his eighth against New Zealand, before Pieter-Steph du Toit added another to give South Africa some breathing room. The All Blacks weren’t finished and Ethan Blackadder’s try brought them back within eight points but the Boks had another big moment waiting. Kurt-Lee Arendse picked up a loose ball and did what Kurt-Lee Arendse does, weaving his way 60 metres to the tryline after Cameron Hanekom had dislodged the ball from Will Jordan in the tackle. Hanekom then got his own name on the scoresheet, pouncing on another loose ball as New Zealand tried to attack from their own half.

By then, Baltimore belonged to the Boks.

Beauden Barrett crossed in the final minute for New Zealand, but it was far too late to change the story. South Africa had scored six tries through De Allende, Van den Berg, Marx, Du Toit, Arendse and Hanekom, putting 43 points past their greatest rivals to complete a remarkable turnaround from where this series had started just four weeks earlier.

Three wins in a row against the All Blacks, Rassie’s 100th Test, six tries in the deciding match and a record American rugby crowd there to watch it happen. Proudly South African… and proud of our bokke!
