Lacoste has changed its iconic crocodile logo in favour of 10 new ones which was done to support 10 endangered animals and raise awareness to help save them.
When thinking of the brand Lacoste, one automatically associates it with the crocodile logo but the brand has made a massive change in aid of endangered animals.
The brand has changed its logo and has 10 new alternatives, each one raising awareness for one endangered species. Here is the even cooler aspect: each shirt with the new logo has only been produced a limited amount of times. The quantities depend on how many of the animals are still around. So if there are currently only 450 Anegada Rock Iguanas then only 450 shirts were produced.
A total of 1,775 polo shirts were produced, a very scary and low number considering this number represents the total of endangered animals left on this planet within these 10 species.
Each polo shirt that is purchased will benefit one of the endangered animals. The company teamed up with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
“For 70 years, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has been the global authority on the status of the natural world and the measures needed to safeguard it. Through its SOS – Save Our Species partnership, IUCN is coordinating frontline projects worldwide in order to help ensure the long-term survival of threatened species, their habitats and the people who depend on them.” – BETC Paris
Hopefully, this massive campaign, which launched at Paris Fashion Week, will raise some much-needed awareness for these 10 endangered animals. The world is always watching what these big fashion brands are doing, and follow them. So hopefully the next fashion trend will be to save the planet and all animals that live on it.
