The MySchool MyVilliage MyPlanet card has made it 10 times easier to give back when you shop by making the card digital and paperless. This is a win for all!

Just in time for the festive shopping season, one of South Africa’s largest consumer-driven fundraising programmes, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet, has gone digital with its mobile app. The app’s new virtual card feature now allows you to give back, card-free. The programme, which currently has more than 1.2 million active supporters, raises over R6 million a month for schools, charities, animal welfare and environmental organisations simply through its supporters swiping their cards at retail partner stores.

The new, free to download MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet app for Android and iOS smartphones is making giving back easier than ever before: with the virtual card, supporters can simply flash their phones in order to give, at no cost, to the causes that matter to them most.

Supporters can also download, sign up and give back all for free and without filling in any paper forms or waiting for their card in the post. The app allows you to set up your personal profile and search for causes, whether those may be schools, charities or conservation organisations, and select or change them instantly. Feedback stories and videos are available via the app so that supporters can see the difference that they make anytime, anywhere. Supporters can also access exclusive vouchers and offers immediately via their phones. They’ll also easily be able to find local partner stores in their area from the more than 1500 partner stores.

To transition to card-free giving, existing supporters simply need to download the app and log in with their current details. The app also links to your Woolies card.

MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet has partnered with the technology consulting company Datonomy Solutions for the development and implementation of the app. The latest version 1.0.5 offers the new virtual card plus in-app notifications and functional enhancements to make the MySchool app user experience even better.

“With the launch of the MySchool app, we’re delighted to make giving back easier and more impactful than ever before,” says Pieter Twine, General Manager of MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet

“Not only is it highly relevant because it allows you to manage more of what’s important to you using your phone, but we are also going to be able to provide faster and better customer service. The app makes joining up so easy; and whether you are a new or a seasoned supporter, it is great that people are going to be able to get real-time insights into the inspiring difference that they make just from scanning their phones at our partner stores every time they shop.”

Before the holiday rush, download the free MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet app at the Apple Store or Google Play and make sure that your festive season shopping gives back to a cause that matters to you.
