Super Bowl

The Super Bowl, which is the biggest sporting event in America, took place over the weekend and as always, hosted some amazing adverts. One of those caught our eye and reminded us that we have awesome companies like that in South Africa too.

The Budweiser advert at the Super Bowl really tugged at the heartstrings of everyone that watched it. We have shared the advert below for you to watch. While watching it, we thought of another beer company doing equally great things here in South Africa.

It is easy to look over at the American Dream and think the grass is greener, this isn’t always the case. While the grass literally isn’t greener in the Cape, it is in the figurative sense. South African Breweries (SAB) have committed to helping Cape Town when it hits Day Zero. This is a massive helping hand to the people of the Western Cape.

We shared the story back in January about how SAB was committed to delivering 9 million litres of water the day the taps run dry.

SAB general manager John Stenslund confirmed that 9 million litres of water – bottled in 12 million quarts – would be distributed to assist with the severe drought.

“We have offered to potentially provide a million cases of bottled water to the citizens of Cape Town.”

Production on this project has not yet begun, he explains but will kick in during march so as to be ready for day Zero. So while you binge watch the Super Bowl Advert compilation videos on YouTube, remember that there is greatness in South Africa too.

PS: we loved this ad, but think the Tide one was the best! Have you seen any you enjoyed?
