The Zeitz MOCAA is going up against the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Foro Boca and LEGO House in the running to be named the Building of the Year globally!

 

The Zeitz MOCAA building in Cape Town has been selected as a finalist in the ArchDaily’s 2018 Building of the Year Awards. They have been selected alongside Louvre Abu Dhabi, Foro Boca, Tianjin Binhai Library and LEGO House in the Cultural Architecture category.

The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa is the first major museum in Africa dedicated to contemporary art. They collect, preserve, research & exhibit cutting edge contemporary art from Africa & the Diaspora & host temporary exhibitions from around the world

Designed by the internationally acclaimed designer, Thomas Heatherwick of Heatherwick Studio, the Grain Silo Complex was reimagined with an architectural intervention inspired by its own historic character to become the new home of Zeitz MOCAA.

The project called for a solution that would be unique to Africa and create the highest possible quality of exhibition space for the work displayed inside.
