Durban, South Africa (10 August 2026) – Durban SPCA has found an adorable way to sweeten the deal at its charity shops…
The SPCA has launched a rather charming incentive, where every purchase at any of its three charity shops comes with a complimentary smooch. But before you start practising your best kissie face at the till, the kisses are courtesy of the cats – not the cashier. Which is probably for the best.
The SPCA now expects to see many more people rush through the doors of its charity shops. They’re treasure troves of pre-loved goodies. You’ll find everything from clothing, furniture and books to toys, games, crockery, glassware, jewellery, décor and collectibles on the shelves.
The Springfield Park shop also has plenty for the four-legged members of the family, with brand-new pet products including food, bowls, leads, collars, beds, toys, shampoo and treats.
You’ll already know that shopping pre-loved is a good thing to do for the planet, too. Every item that gets another life is one less thing heading for landfill, while the money spent in the shops goes towards helping animals in distress.
In fact, the proceeds from the three charity shops contribute more than R3 million a year towards the Durban SPCA’s animal welfare services!
So that shirt, book or piece of furniture you pick up is not just a bargain, it makes a meaningful difference.
And if your own cupboards, wardrobes or garages are overflowing, the SPCA is also looking for donations of good-quality unwanted goods. Clothing, shoes, linen, furniture, toys, books, games, jewellery and household items can all be given a second life – and help turn your clutter into care for animals.
