A wave of kindness, education, and connection washed over the Olievenhoutbosch township, as pet owners and their furry companions experienced the care and support of dedicated volunteers who make it their mission to look after those often overlooked.
Olievenhoutbosch, South Africa (15 September 2025) – Saving one dog will not change the world, but for that one dog, their whole world changes forever. This is at the heart of Woodrock Animal Rescue’s outreach initiatives. A community-driven mission that the cats and doggos of Olievenhoutbosch township had the tail-wagging joy of experiencing first-hand last week.
Together with the Animal Justice League, the team of volunteers provided vital services, including vaccinations, deworming, flea and tick treatments, and signed up animals for sterilisation to help prevent overpopulation and the suffering that comes with it.
The outreach offered more than just medical care but extended kindness, education, and connection to pet owners who adore their furbabies but often lack the resources or access to ensure they receive the best care.
“Many of the families we met adore their pets deeply but simply haven’t been taught what responsible care looks like. By sharing information and guidance, we can empower them to give their animals healthier, happier lives. The love we witnessed between people and their animals was truly moving,” Woodrock Animal Rescue shares.
The animal welfare teams also came bearing food and blankets, offering comfort for both the animals and their families.
“Most importantly, we worked to build lasting relationships because change doesn’t come from a single visit, but from trust, education, and ongoing support.”
The heartwarming day dedicated to pet care would not have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors, the dedication of our volunteers, and the contributions of partners, who understand the significance of delivering this kind of support where circumstances are often too challenging to make it a priority.
“Your dedication helps us uplift not only the animals but the communities that treasure them.”
The Woodrock Animal Rescue team, together with the Delta Project, is now underway with another massive outreach, where they plan to perform 300 sterilisations in three days, with the aid of three dedicated vets in the community of Walkerville.
Every checkup and every effort helps break the cycle of suffering. To support the incredible cause, consider leaving a donation. You can find out more here.
