Adoption Fees

An anonymous Good Samaritan made a unique donation to the Kitty and Puppy Haven in Midrand that will subsidise the adoption fees for puppies in need!

Midrand, South Africa (17 March 2025) — Those looking to adopt a puppy might be inclined to adopt from the Kitty and Puppy Haven thanks to an act of kindness made possible by an anonymous Good Samaritan! A unique donation, Anonymous asked that it be used to help subsidise the adoption fees for several puppies at the shelter based in Midrand.

The thrilling news for adopters-to-be was announced on Friday and applies to 20 future adoptions for Medium to Large breed pups (though we’re sure some pups have been scooped up already!).

By subsidising the fees, Anonymous is helping the shelter’s mission to lead dogs to their new families while giving them the healthiest start to life (the adoption fee covers many health-focused essentials). This is because (as the Kitty and Puppy Haven share) the adoption fee extends to sterilisation, age-appropriate vaccinations, tick/flea and dewormer, and a microchip.

However, kindness doesn’t mean a shortcut through the adoption process. All adopters will still be vetted so that the pups end up in the best homes and with families who have the means to care for them long-term.

The Kitty and Puppy Haven team explained that they would be undertaking sufficient checks during the pre-application process (as they normally would) “to ensure medical care, food, comfort, safety and [all] the spoils are still accessible”.

“We still want the very best for the babies…It is only a subsidised adoption fee which means there is still part of the fee payable by adoptees.”

Additionally, all adoptions are by appointment.
