Augrabies Falls National Park has experienced a powerful increase in water volumes thanks to all the rainfall in our country; making the spot a water wonder!
Northern Cape, South Africa (02 May 2025) — Widespread rainfall across South Africa have seen several water bodies welcome increased volumes; including the Vaal and Gariep Dams, and Augrabies Falls National Park which has turned into its own water wonder.
It’s a seriously impressive flow at the National Park, with the waterfall reaching a flow rate of 3,991 cubic metres per second while the orange River flows over the tall falls, as SANParks shares.
This is a huge jump from the falls typical flow-rate, which is between 30 and 50 cubic metres per second. And, it’s all thanks to the rainfall South Africa has welcomed.
As such, Augrabie Falls National Park has become a water wonder, boasting phenomenal sites for visitors. Though some parts of the Park have been closed for safety reasons (including the game viewing are and the picnic site), there are still three viewing decks open.
“Despite these closures, the park remains open to visitors, and the falls are offering a spectacular and thunderous display that is expected to continue for several weeks,” SANParks furthers.
