From starving in a mud wallow alone to finding a family and love from animals and humans alike; Baby Binti, the rhino orphan, continues to rocket from strength to strength and recently celebrated her three-month birthday!

Undisclosed Location, South Africa (12 June 2024) — In the world of wildlife rescue and conservation, every milestone matters. This is partly because the odds that were overcome to get to these milestones in the first place were far from easy, and partly because (like a proud family watching their little ones grow), organisations like The Rhino Orphange know how quickly their babies grow up! Such is the case for baby Binti the rhino orphan who has recently celebrated turning 3-months-old—a proud moment for TRO considering that not too long ago, baby Binti was fighting for her survival.

Binti was rescued in late March (when she was not even a month old yet) after she became trapped in a game reserve’s mud wallow—an experience that left her alone and starved.

But, after she was taken in by the orphanage, all of that trauma was soon put far behind her as she waddled and wandered her way through her new home and began settling in with her new family of sheep friends, caretakers and other rhinos like her.

Many milk bottles and tons of care later and baby Binti’s story has turned into one of heartwarming hope!

Not only has she earned her chops as the ‘little miss’ in the family, but she’s also stolen hearts around the world and has even been gifted with her own special blankets from her ‘far and wide’ family thanks to the Blankets for Baby Rhinos community.

Though it is still early days for baby Binti, her journey to healing mentally and physically from her rough start to life is ever-promising; which is exactly what her mini-birthday celebrations applaud. And, word at the orphanage is that she’s also started to make a blossoming friendship with Choppie the sheep.
