Cape Town is predicted to receive more rainfall on Wednesday and this is what to expect in the catchment areas and surrounding.
It is always happy news when the drought regions get much-needed rainfall. This is what we can expect in the Western Cape over the coming days, some much-needed rainfall!
The rain is predicted to start during the middle of the night on Tuesday evening and continue throughout the day on Wednesday. According to the South African, the city will receive a total of 6 to 8 hours of rain equalling around 31mm before moving inland.
The catchment areas of Clanwilliam and Theewaterskloof will only receive between 5 and 7mm. Thankfully, Steenbras lower and upper will receive good levels and approximately 26mm of rain will fall near the dams situated near Sir Lowry’s Pass.
Paarl is expected to receive the highest amount of rainfall with an estimated 35mm. The cold front will stretch as far as George and Knysna, they will get a 5mm. On the West Coast, Saldhana Bay can expect 15-20mm of precipitation.
Hermanus can also expect some nice rainfall, around 15mm or so. The rain will then die down and pick up again on Friday.
This rainfall is another step towards ending the water crisis. To date, the dams have increased and crossed back over the 40% mark. If this rain season continues as it is, we can be very hopeful.
According to the Department of Water and Sanitation, we will need 4 good rain seasons before Cape Town is out of the drought. We are always hopeful, which is why we continue to celebrate the rainfall in South Africa.
