Car Guard uses tips to look after street cats along the beachfront

Stray cats along the Durban Central Beachfront have found their owner… a Car Guard who uses his tips to feed and take care of them!

Dave Claxton was visiting Durban Central Beachfront when he noticed a stray cat snuggled up in it’s own little bed along the pavement. There was also food and water put out for the strays in the area.

He posted the photo to a Facebook group after finding out that Eddie, a Car Guard in the area actually looks after the street cats along the beachfront.

Tracey Bowles Honneysett saw the post and explained who the Car Guard was and how others also help him look after the strays.

“The Car guards name is Eddie and he looks after a few strays on the beach front. Such an amazing man. A lovely lady Latifa also donates food and Feral Cat Rescue have helped him trap and sterilise them all. They also help if anything is wrong with the fur babies and they need to go to the vet. There are some amazing people doing beautiful heart full things in our special country.”

The post has been seen and shared by thousands who have been inspired by the simple act of kindness and community members are getting involved to help Eddie even more.

It’s stories like these that continue to show us the real South Africa, one filled with Ubuntu and love!
