Heal Wentworth is a small but mighty community movement brought to life by dedicated neighbours working tirelessly to restore pride, peace, and natural beauty to their beloved area.

Austerville, South Africa (04 November 2025) – In the community of Austerville in Wentworth, a small but powerful movement is turning hope into action.

Led by Austin Kinsey, Heal Wentworth has been working to restore pride, peace, and natural beauty to the area. Their latest efforts in Maria Crescent Park, which have seen volunteers planting greenery around an abandoned building, are proof that change starts with just a few determined hands.

Over the past few weeks, the Heal Wentworth team, which includes community activist Kerwyn Turpin, have been hard at work clearing overgrown sidewalks and storm drains around the borders of the park, the kind of groundwork that makes a space feel open, safe, and cared for. In addition to these cleanups, the team have begun planting and maintaining greenery, breathing new life into the once-neglected park.

A highlight of their work so far is the recently completed tree ring garden, a wrap-around planting project that adds both charm and serenity to the space.

But this is just the beginning. Plans are already underway for more garden spots around the park, not only to discourage unwanted activity but also to transform the area into something beautiful and inviting.

Looking ahead, this incredible group of changemakers aims to paint and repair the playground equipment, creating a space that draws families and children back into the park, creating a true place of unity, beauty, and calm.

Kinsey says the vision is simple:

“We want people to feel proud of this park again, to see it as a safe, peaceful spot that the community can truly enjoy.”
