Ellen in Africa

Ellen’s wife gave her the most incredible birthday gift, she set up a wildlife fund for Ellen to help save her favourite animal, the gorilla. Ellen is now travelling in Africa to help set up the first project.

Ellen and Portia are visiting Kenya and Rwanda as part of their trip with Ellen’s new wildlife fund. The couple is going to set up a permanent building for the Dian Fossey organisation. The work being done by the organisation is helping to save the Mountain Gorilla.

There are currently only 880 Mountain Gorilla left on the Earth. Ellen has had a passion for this cause for a very long time. This is why Portia set up the fund as a birthday gift for Ellen. You can see Portia gift Ellen the fund below.

“The first initiative of the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund is to help build a permanent home for Dian Fossey’s organization, the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, in Rwanda.  This campus will inspire and educate local communities and tourists, engage scientific and conservation trailblazers to share knowledge and provide a training ground for a new wave of African scientists committed to conservation.”

During a recent show, Ashton Kutcher donated $4-million to the fund and he let Ellen press the transfer button on his phone. Portia selected the Dian Fossey project as the very first one but Ellen now has the ability to do work with any type of wildlife and we cannot wait to see what she does.

The couple recently set off on their adventure to Rwanda and stopped off in Kenya. They have been sharing their adventure on social media.
