The Empangeni community witnessed a heartwarming display of animal welfare as the SPCA’s Rabies Drive successfully vaccinated and cared for 200 dogs and cats.

Empangeni, South Africa (12 March 2025) – 200 dogs and cats recently received vaccinations and some much-needed TLC and pet care thanks to the Empangeni SPCA’s Rabies Drive.

The event, hailed as a resounding success, saw pets being vaccinated to help keep the community and animals safe.

With rabies being a life-threatening disease, vaccination drives such as these prove crucial for public health, especially in areas where it’s prevalent.

In addition to the vaccinations, the SPCA members also issued pet licenses and provided microchipping services to ensure lost pets have a better chance of being reunited with their families.

“A huge thank you to our dedicated team, volunteers, and every pet owner who brought their furry friends to be vaccinated. Your support helps in the fight against rabies and promotes responsible pet ownership.

“Let’s continue working together to protect our pets and community,” the Empangeni SPCA said.

The proactive initiative not only bolstered the community’s defense against rabies but also fostered responsible pet ownership, thanks to the dedicated team, volunteers, and caring pet owners who participated!
