Extra doses of love in the air means it’s the perfect time to share! If you’ve got lots of room in your heart but not in your home, the Mdzananda Animal Clinic encourage you to spoil a homeless pet in an effort to touch not only another heart but potentially change another life.

Khayelitsha, South Africa (07 February 2025) — With just a week to go until Cupid’s favourite day, there are certainly extra doses of love in the air. If you’ve got lots of room in your heart but not necessarily your home, you might consider spreading the love to those in need, like the Khayelitsha-based Mdzananda Animal Clinic’s array of homeless pets.

“Valentine’s Day has become an extremely commercialised event with people spending large amounts of money on gifts, chocolates and flowers. This year we are encouraging people to allow a homeless pet to be their Valentine by sponsoring them and showing them some love,” says Marcelle du Plessis, Fundraising and Communications Executive.

With this in mind, those who can’t necessarily adopt an animal can still make acts of love go the distance from afar.

Spoil Options

  • R50 – Get rid of those nasty fleas and ticks
  • R100 – Have your Valentine vaccinated to keep them healthy and strong
  • R200 – Spoil a pet with delicious food for two weeks
  • R450 – Give your valentine great meals for a whole month
  • R650 – Spay or neuter your Valentine

Spread the Love and Change a Life

Donations made to your chosen Valentine’s help the organisation to care for them until they are able to find permanent homes. And for those who are looking to welcome a pet into the family, we guarantee that there’s no love like the kind you receive from a shelter pet.

If you would like to sponsor a homeless pet for Valentine’s Day, contact donations@mdzananda.co.za or simply make a donation to:
