Kevin Richardson, the Lion Whisperer, started a fund to raise money for a large piece of land to help protect lions and prevent habitat loss.
Kevin Richardson, best known as the lion whisperer, gets up close and personal with wild lions to highlight how the king of the jungle is quickly becoming endangered. His belief that the only way to shoot a Lion is with a camera is fast becoming a global message to save the species.
The Kevin Richardson Foundation is a non-profit conservation organisation with nature’s most majestic creature, the lion, at its heart. Launched in early 2018 the foundation is committed to changing and reversing the state of Africa’s declining lion population by purchasing habitat and raising awareness to create safe, natural spaces where lions and other native species can flourish.
By partnering with specialised organisations and engaging with impoverished communities on the fringes of these protected areas, the foundation also aims to minimise human/wildlife conflict whilst improving living conditions for local villages.
Kevin Richardson started a campaign on Thundafund to help fund the purchase of a piece of land for this project and it has made history in South Africa. It has nearly reach R3 million since it was launched, that is the most ever raised for one cause on the website.
R2,738,975.00 has been raised by 2147 backers, all of who are helping save lions in South Africa.
“In the last 100 year,s lions have lost 90% of their former range. Scientists predict that by 2050 there will be no wild lions left in the wild. The Kevin Richardson Foundation is working to reclaim habitat and give it back to nature.
