Good Things Guy spent the year doing good things in partnership with First Choice and their #Move4Goodness campaign, from planting trees after the Knysna fires to cleaning beaches and even teaching kids about the environment… so we’ve decided to look back at the year together, and bring you all the Top stories of 2017 (with all the updates of the people who inspired us this year).

This is the 10 days of Goodmass, good news stories to uplift you, just in time for the holiday season!

For the 1st day of Goodmass, we’re sharing the story of how trees are being replanted after the Knysna Fires.

On the 7th of June 2017 Knysna was ravaged by fires and this idyllic town was burnt to the ground. Families have lost their homes, livilhoods and were left hopeless, helpless and homeless.

First Choice in partnership with GreenPop planted over 1oo trees in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Knysna as part of its, ‘it’s all good’ campaign.

‘It’s all good’ is First Choice’s ethos when it comes to sustainability, good-environmental practices, ethical business and quality dairy products, and the planting workshop is an extension of this.

The dairy behind First Choice, Woodlands Dairy, believes we all need to balance the pursuit of business success together with making the world a better place.

“The planet is important to us,” remarks First Choice representative. “As a company we have programme to ensure sustainability which also encompasses people and profits.

“We live in a time of unprecedented change. In business we face challenges and opportunities that are more critical and complex than ever before – where the consequences of failure are unimaginable and the impact of our decisions are felt instantly across the planet.”

Involving pupils from schools in the workshop, extends the message that we all need to look after our environment, “we hope the message stays with them throughout life.”
