Cole Du Plessis and Lihle celebrate four years of friendship together; Lihle is a rescue and a shining hope to other dogs like her, proof that a good home is out there!
KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (19 October 2021) – Wild dog expert Cole Du Plessis from the Endangered Wildlife Trust celebrated his beloved rescue Lihle’s 4th adoption day. He shared the heartwarming post on Instagram, and our hearts felt so full!
Lihle was adopted from the Project Dog Durban rescue organisation four years ago. Cole describes her as his ultimate bush companion and his rock in the sometimes unrelenting world of conservation.
Lihle was 4-months-old when Cole met her. She had come from an abusive home and was severely neglected. She couldn’t even look at him. With her fearful heart in tow, she joined Cole on his adventures in the bush. The two quickly bonded.
“From meeting African Wild Dogs at our fence, befriending a Warthog, being snarled at by a Cheetah, staring down a Lion and making friends with an Elephant, Lihle has been my regular travel companion in our conservation journey and the best company that one could ask for during the quiet days at home…with our regular phrase of ‘Cole & Lihle take on the world’.”
The Endangered Wildlife Trust shared the adorable video of Lihle when she met wild dogs for the first time back in 2019. Hearing that Cole and Lihle were celebrating four years together made us feel so happy.
Lihle is proof that rescue dogs are great companions and can adapt to every kind of life, whether suburban or incredible bush adventures! Take a look at Cole’s moving post below.
