The Rhino Orphanage shared some adorable pictures of their orphans having a wallow on a sweltering day – we all love a good cool down.
Undisclosed Location, South Africa (03 November 2021) – The Rhino Orphanage takes care of all the calves left behind due to poaching. These young rhinos often need 24-hour specialised care, which is why they are taken from the wild and cared for at the orphanage. They would not survive out in the wild on their own.
Arrie van Deventer founded the Rhino Orphanage in 2012. The orphanage takes in young rhinos, rehabilitates them, and then releases them back into the wild when they are ready. The facility became the World’s First Rhino Orphanage.
Since then, they have saved countless young rhinos and returned them back to the wild. The team dedicated themselves entirely to the cause, working day and night to be there for the scared young souls.
Over the years, we have introduced many of the orphans taken to the organisation. This update isn’t about any of the rhino orphans specifically, more about a group of them enjoying a good wallow.
“As the temperatures reached a scorching 39 degrees today, the rhino bums have spent the afternoon being lazy in their wallow, you will see Robynne & Duane have acquired some new friends, ANNIE & MAPIMPI! We are busy monitoring how the new “friendship” evolves & will be back with an update soon”
We all love a good cool off on a hot summer’s day. Take a look at their wallow session below. We cannot get enough of the cuteness!
