KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (04 March 2025) – With young environmental enthusiasts like Romario Valentine, the future of our planet is promising!
The 13-year-old was the recipient of a WESSA Youth Award at the KZN Eco-Schools Awards Celebration held this past Saturday.
According to the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA), the prestigious award recognises a youth who has shown exceptional dedication and made significant contributions to conservation and/or environmental education.
“Romario was nominated for his passion for environmental stewardship and his remarkable efforts since aged 6 in protecting both our oceans and terrestrial biodiversity,” said WESSA.
This incredible youngster just goes to show that you’re never too young to take responsibility and play your part in addressing the issues that threaten the future of the place we all call home.
Romario has previously received numerous international awards for his conservation initiatives, which include over 540 beach clean-ups, recycling projects that have created jobs, fundraising for marine bird conservation, tree planting initiatives in over 31 countries and presentations to UN Councillors on conservation issues!
“Romario was also a guest speaker at the KZN Eco-Schools Awards Celebration, highlighting the part that every scholar and teacher can make towards protecting our planet,” WESSA added.
This changemaker undeniably has a heart that beats for the environment, and this is on the rise!
