Seth Pillay is making waves in the global environmental movement. His stunning artwork, selected for the Mangrove Action Project’s 23rd Annual Art Contest, has not only earned international recognition but has also appointed him as a Global Earth Ambassador for South Africa.
Durban North, South Africa (22 November 2024) – You’re never too young to make a meaningful impact. At just 10 years old, Seth Pillay is proving to be quite the advocate for nature preservation.
Through a recent artwork submitted to the Mangrove Action Project’s 23rd Annual Art Contest, he showcased his outstanding artistic skills and passion for environmental conservation. To his delight, Seth was selected as one of 13 international winners to be featured in the Children’s International Mangrove Art Calendar for 2025.
This amazing feat is coupled with an amazing opportunity for Seth to be the Global Earth Ambassador for South Africa for the Mangrove Action Project (MAP)!
According to his mother, Dr Sonia Roopnarain, the preservation of mangroves and coastal ecosystems lies close to the environmentally conscious boy’s heart.
“This achievement has inspired him to actively contribute to raising awareness about the vital role mangroves play in protecting our planet,” Sonia explains.
Following the selection, his school Crawford International La Lucia congratulated Seth and said his contribution will surely inspire others to understand the significance of mangroves and coastal ecosystems.
As part of his zealous efforts to champion the conservation of the environment, Seth is eager to assist environmental organisations by participating in campaigns, educational initiatives, or other activities that align with the goal of creating a positive impact.
“He believes that his story and efforts can inspire other young individuals to join the movement for a sustainable future,” Sonia adds.
