Snoopy the Beagle is using his walks to do his part for the planet by picking up litter as he goes along, he sniffs it out and brings it back to his mom.
Johannesburg, South Africa – Snoopy the Beagle is doing his part to make the environment a cleaner place. The helpful little pup collects litter with his mom Alison Milton when they go out walking.
Alison shared a few photos of Snoopy picking up litter on their most recent walk, and it has inspired everyone who has seen them.
We spoke to her to learn more about Snoopy. He is an 8-year-old foodie with a penchant for Coca-Cola bottles and pink tennis balls. He started picking up bottles in 2013, and to this day it still has Alison scratching her head.
“He’s been picking up plastic bottles since 2013 or so – he particularly likes the Coca Cola bottles for some unknown reason and always prefers to pick up those! He always takes the bottle home with him.”
He loves snacks, maybe a little too much as Alison says he now eats special food for his metabolism. To assist with his weight, Alison walks Snoopy every night, and he is very popular in the neighbourhood.
“I walk him every evening in our suburb and everyone knows Snoopy but I don’t think they know who I am!!! And he always makes people smile when they drive by in their cars on their way home when he has a bottle in his mouth.
He also likes chasing tennis balls – preferably a pink one which he likes to carry in his mouth. I’m afraid he’s not very much of a retriever though…chasing is ok but bringing it back to the owner, not so much!”
While Snoopy’s agenda may be purely entertainment, people who see him carrying his found plastic bottles always find joy in the sight.
