The South African floral showcase that stole the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and scooped gold will soon make the village of Stanford the talk of the Cape. The champion flower show is coming home!
Stanford, South Africa (02 August 2024) — South Africa made a fierce floral return to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show earlier this year, reminding the world that when it comes to flora, we don’t play around. Back with a bang, the South African display became the champion flower show that not only won gold but also ‘Best Exhibit in the Pavilion’ and the ‘Best New Design Award’!
The success soon became the talk of our country, with floral enthusiasts and those who simply love to see South Africa win alike, bursting with pride.
The display—created by Leon Kluge and his team who worked tirelessly to bring a ‘slice of our mountains’ to life—has been well-shared all across social media spaces. But, these are only an inkling of what we imagine experiencing it live must have felt like, which is precisely why the news that the flower show’s darling is set to be displayed locally, came as music to many ears.
As announced by the Grootbos Foundation, South Africa’s champion flower show display is coming home and will soon flourish in Stanford from 21 September to 6 October!
Along with Leon, the Grootbos Private Nature Reserve (who helped make the South Africa display possible) is bringing the floral design to South Africa, giving locals a firsthand chance to fall in love with its beauty.
An exact replica of what won the gold in Chelsea will be built by Leon and his team as something of the floral displays own ‘victory tour’ moment.
In addition to the Cape’s floral charms another South African floral champion, botanical artist Daleen Roodt, will also showcase her works that won gold in London at the world’s most prestigious exhibition of botanical art!
