The only vulture conservation organisation of its kind received a game-changing donation of essential equipment for its on-site hospital!

Hartbeespoort, South Africa (06 January 2025) — VulPro is the only vulture conservation organisation of its kind. Based in Hartbeespoort, Kerri Wolter and her team have a big responsibility to the misunderstood species; a responsibility that requires collective effort and a lot of care. So, when the organisation received a game-changing donation for its on-site hospital, they knew it wasn’t just a win for their work but also for vulture conservation as a whole!

Far away in the United States, the Lincoln Children’s Zoo has its own Conservation and Research programmes. Thanks to these programmes and Dr Sarah Woodhouse, an epic donation of essential equipment and materials was made possible for VulPro and the many vultures whose futures rest in their team’s hands.

The VulPro team reported that the donation included a host of goods: bandage materials, scissors, a multipurpose centrifuge (key for health monitoring and research), stethoscopes, and a vital signs monitor (with all the bells and whistles, including blood pressure functions) all made their way to VulPro’s gracious claws.

But, the most exciting addition to the on-site hospital for the team is, by far, the heart monitor.

“The heart monitor, in particular, is a game-changer, enabling us to undertake surgeries and monitor our patients with precision and care during anaesthesia,” the VulPro team share.

Conservation on its own is a tough sport, and donations certainly don’t roll in every day. Now, consider conservation efforts for a species like vultures—which most people don’t know enough about and even less tend to care about.

The donation will help make a world of difference for a few while VulPro continues to make a world of difference for the many. And, you can be a part of it all by learning more about VulPro, here.
