A baby zebra, a warthog named Mr Bean, a young buffalo, and a tiny eland walked into a “bar”… well not a bar, this is not the start of a joke, just the most heart-melting moment you’ll see all week.
Nairobi, Kenya (25 April 2025) – The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, known for rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned wildlife in Kenya, recently shared a video so heartwarming, it’s been melting hearts across the globe.
And it’s not hard to see why.
A baby zebra, a tiny warthog, young buffalo and a small eland… all huddled together to take shelter from the rain. No, this isn’t the start of a cheesy wildlife joke, it’s a real moment captured on a rainy day. And it’s honestly one of the purest things we’ve seen this year.
“Some of us are fair weather friends. Our orphaned elephants welcome rain, but the rest of the Kaluku herd doesn’t share their philosophy! Returning from patrol, our pilot found a few unlikely characters sheltering in the carpark: Keeper Peter and his little charges — Bibi (the buffalo), Gruff (the buffalo), Izera (the eland), Bombi (the zebra), and Mr Bean (the warthog) — waiting out the storm. Bean was clearly ready to stay awhile; he even dug himself a mini burrow!”
Yes, you read that right, Mr Bean the warthog. And yes, he really did make himself a little burrow right there in the gravel. This little crew looked like they were ready to ride out the entire rainy season together.
And the internet? Well, the internet loved it.
“They know about respect to each other and live in harmony, WE SHOULD LEARN ABOUT THEM..”
“What a sight! I simply cannot imagine being in the company of all of these magnificent creatures. What joy!”
“Mr Bean doing the equivalent of getting into your pyjamas and sticking the kettle on 😭❤️”
“How heartwarming to see them all together, different species in complete trust in their human friend! I so love and appreciate your work! Deep esteem for you all! I wish humanity would learn from you and the animals!”
There’s something so profoundly gentle about the way these animals, each rescued from some kind of trauma, now seek comfort in each other and in the humans who care for them. It’s more than a moment of cuteness… it’s a quiet reminder of the bonds that can form when kindness leads the way.
