Tammy the cheetah just gave us four more reasons to believe in hope, conservation and the magic of new beginnings.
South Africa (02 May 2025) – It’s not every day you get to witness the miracle of life and even rarer when that miracle has spots, whiskers and four tiny sets of paws. But on 30 April, that’s exactly what happened at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC), where a cheetah named Tammy gave birth to four healthy cubs, and the entire thing was captured live on camera.
Delivered in the early hours of the morning, Tammy’s little ones arrived safely, each one an undeniable dose of pure joy. But this isn’t just about cuteness (though trust us, there’s plenty of that). This birth marks a crucial moment in the race to save one of Africa’s most vulnerable big cats.
Cheetahs, known for their speed and elegance, are sprinting toward extinction, with fewer than 7,500 left in the wild. That’s why places like HESC matter so deeply. Every birth at the centre is part of a much bigger effort: to protect, preserve, and rebuild a population that’s vanishing too fast.
And Tammy’s doing her part, one purr and nuzzle at a time.
The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre has been a force in conservation for decades, focusing on the rescue, care, and breeding of rare, vulnerable, and endangered animals. They don’t just offer sanctuary… they offer hope. Their hands-on work with cheetahs, in particular, has helped shift the odds for a species that so desperately needs champions.
What’s especially beautiful about this story is that you can be part of it. The live stream offers a glimpse into Tammy’s world, an open invitation to engage, learn and fall a little more in love with wildlife conservation.
Because sometimes, all it takes to care a little more about the wild… is seeing it for yourself.
