There are a number of groups on Facebook that help to inform on water shortages, offer tips and celebrate rainfall in South Africa. We have compiled a list of the ones we enjoy following.
The South African water crisis has created a multitude of platforms that assist people with tips on saving water, businesses offering specials and people celebrating rainfall. We have been following a few of these for some time now and decided to draw up a helpful list so you can find the right group to join.
We have been following three groups so far that have had great information and have even lead to some incredible stories right here on Good Things Guy.
If we have missed any good ones, let us know in the comment section.
Water Shedding Western Cape
Water Shedding Western Cape is a group that was started to provide an online space for members to share and discuss water-related information and tips relevant to the drought in the Western Cape.
The admins created a safe space to ask questions, advice, discuss and debate. They encourage water-wise usage and collaboration and also hope that contributors will work towards practical solutions.
The group also hosts giveaways of water-related technology and allows some members to offer specials on items such as water tanks, boreholes and other innovative water-saving technology.
Water Shortage South Africa
Water Shortage South Africa is a broader-based Facebook group that focuses on South Africa as a whole. They work to collect water donations, adding venues throughout SA that will take in donations to be sent to regions in need. They also help coordinate collections and find places in need of donations.
The group has been sharing pictures of all the water being donated and it is incredibly uplifting. It is also a great space to find information relating to water shortages in South Africa.
Reenval in SA
Reenval in SA is a page that is used to celebrate rainfall in South Africa. The page posts videos and images of rainfall from all over South Africa on a daily basis.
Users also share the amount of rainfall collected at their homes and the entire community celebrates. It is yet another page to follow if you want to celebrate the rain in our water scarce country.
