Children from Reach For A Dream’s Pretoria Dream Club enjoyed a day of motoring excitement, including thrilling laps around the Kyalami circuit.

Johannesburg, South Africa (31 August 2026) – The Festival of Motoring at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit was all about the sights, sounds and excitement of motoring, and for a group of young dreamers, it became a day they are unlikely to forget.

Children from Reach For A Dream’s Pretoria-region Dream Club spent the day taking in the festival before getting the chance to experience the circuit from a very different perspective.

For the children, who often spend much of their time navigating medical appointments and treatment, the day offered a welcome change of pace. Instead of hospital routines and medical conversations, there were engines, laughter and the anticipation of getting out on the track. A day away from the ordinary.

Fourteen-year-old Mogomotsi Smith was among those who got to experience a lap in a supercar, and it quickly became the highlight of her day.

“The best part of my day was going in the super-fast car,” she says. “The driver answered my questions with so much energy. It’s a memory I’ll keep forever.”

Eleven-year-old Mukona Radzilani was equally excited by the experience.

“The car was very fast. I had a good time,” she says.

While the laps offered plenty of excitement, the experience was about more than speed. The Dream Club gave the children an opportunity to spend time together, share something exciting and simply enjoy being children without their illnesses being the focus.

Natasha Mohlala, Reach For A Dream’s Pretoria team leader, says the experience gave the children an opportunity to step into a world that might otherwise feel far removed from their everyday lives.

“For many of our dreamers, owning supercars is something they dream of. The laps around the track is another dream come true,” she says.

The children were able to experience the excitement of the festival together, with the atmosphere of the Kyalami circuit adding to a day filled with new experiences.

For Reach For A Dream, creating moments like these is at the heart of its Dream Club programme.

And at the Festival of Motoring, that meant trading medical routines for the roar of engines and a few unforgettable laps around one of South Africa’s best-known circuits.
