A Cape Town school is crossing continents for a project to protect the planet!
Cape Town, South Africa (07 May 2026) – Learners from Fish Hoek High School and a school in Germany are joining forces across continents for a project that prioritises the planet.
The school has announced a new partnership with Erich Kästner Gymnasium in Germany. Their first collaboration together will be a joint sustainability project.

Four learners and two educators from Fish Hoek High will travel to Germany in June for the official launch of the project, which will then run over six months.

The topic they’ve chosen to focus on is renewable energy!
“We have selected renewable energy as our project topic. Fish Hoek High School has recently been granted funds to install solar panels for electricity generation.”
Solar panels at school are a huge step forward. The kilowatts of clean energy generated on-site places less reliance on the grid, and it means lower costs and a smaller carbon footprint.
This good example allows learners to see and practice renewable energy in action! It’s important to learn about solar power in theory, but seeing it keep the lights on in class and creates a bigger impact on the next generation of people who put the planet first.
