Anele and the Club at 947 have been trying to decide who makes the best cheesecake in Johannesburg; the DC Coffee Co sold out in 7 hours after their cheesecake was tasted.
Johannesburg, South Africa (10 May 2023) – Anele Mdoda and “the Club” at 947 have been eating cheesecake every day and selecting their favourites. A few days ago they chose the DC Coffee Co as the winner of the day and by the end of the day, the shop had completely sold out!
People are celebrating this awesome radio segment as it’s promoting local businesses and beyond that, coffee shops that have been widely affected by the state of things to date. This fun competition is changing the lives of everyone involved!
The DC Coffee Co happens to be rather close to the Good Things Guy heart. The team featured their story back in 2021 when they launched the “Pay it Forward Wall”. The wall was launched during the pandemic as a way to help people who may need a warm drink and a touch of kindness.
Apart from the wall, the coffee shop is filled with local and lekker products made by artisans as well as a delicious selection of cheesecakes.
Anele and the team started tasting locally made cheesecakes on the 8th of May. Each day, they select the top 3. They are going to be hosting a grand finale next week to find the best cheesecake in Johannesburg.
The day they chose the DC Coffee Co cheesecake, the shop based in Pineslopes, Fourways, was visited by people as far off as Alberton. They currently stock 13 flavours and sold out of every single one, in 7 hours!
“In 7 hours we sold out of all 13 cheesecake flavours for today and haven’t stopped prepping in the kitchen to replenish stock.
If you didn’t manage to grab a cheesecake today, we’re so sorry for any inconvenience but we will be locked and loaded again tomorrow with our full range and a new flavour landing on Thursday

Anele left the studio later in the day and went to get a cheesecake for home and found the shelves empty. She was so surprised and so proud of her listeners; she shared the post on Twitter.
