Cycle Tour

Jonathan ‘Nick’ Cope is possibly the best sideline supporter the Cape Town Cycle Tour has ever had. He even dressed down for the occasion and made us laugh out loud!

Jonathan ‘Nick’ Cope is our new favourite goofball! He decided to support the riders in the Cape Town Cycle Tour in the funniest way he knows. Through his dedicated humour.

To show support, he carried an ‘old school’ exercise bike up a massive hill, a section of the race that is gruelling for most and set up camp to shout encouragements at men and women cycling passed. Not only did he cycle along with them but he dressed in as little as possible (a Borat Mankini with extra stuffing) to really catch the eye of those passing him.

According to commenters on the video, Jonathan spent the entire day there and many cyclists stopped their race and walked down to quickly snap a picture with Jonathan before continuing on the cycle tour.

His presence was a welcome one among the riders and people were inspired to keep on peddling thanks to his encouraging words.

This man deserves some bells…he was awesome….thank u for making our ride fun” – Lucy Moraba

“I hope he remembered to put on sun lotion!!! My son did a double lap and when he went past the second time the guys was still there peddling!!!” – Hayley Browne

“He made me want to cycle very fast and very far away. Laughing all the way.” – Emma Smith Staines

Jonathan shared a picture of a disaster fall he had (see the title image above) and shared how it all happened.

“Not only did I scrape my knee, but I stood up to ‘ride it like you stole it!!!’ and this happened… Let the laughs never stop!”

If you did the cycle tour, did you spot Jonathan? Let us know in the comment section.
