Joe Fleming moved from North Carolina to Johannesburg and has found Biltong. He recently shared his feelings about the delicacy online.

Johannesburg, South Africa (30 June 2025) – Millions of South Africans regularly walk out of their local butcher, carrying a brown, oily bag filled with salty, savoury goodness. It’s biltong and it is a staple food for rugby, braaiing, snacking, and just enjoying because it’s oh so good!

Joe Fleming has recently fallen in love with biltong, and he shared his thoughts with all his followers who have never heard of the meaty treat before.

Joe compares biltong to jerky, giving jerky a not-so-friendly review in the process.

“Biltong is like if beef jerky was good”

Having actually tried beef jerky, I can personally attest to Joe’s comparison. Biltong is bladdy good! Jerky… not so much.

Take a look at his take on biltong below.
