Lay’s South Africa quietly discontinued their Salt and Vinegar chips but when South Africans found out, they flipped out and rightly so!
South Africa (12 February 2020) – As a Salt and Vinegar fan, the news that Lay’s discontinued the flavour in South Africa is deeply upsetting. Salt and Vinegar flavoured chips are a must at every family get-together or braai!
Is your mouth watering just reading this? Us too! Anyway, so Lay’s South Africa discontinued their Salt and Vinegar flavour without making a public announcement. It was only when Twitter user DeLaila queried why she was unable to find the brands flavour, that they owned the giant mistake.
“Unfortunately, Lay’s Salt & Vinegar Flavour has been discontinued and will no longer be available in the market. We, however, invite you to try our new Lay’s Sweet and Smoky American BBQ Flavour. We do hope you enjoy our other flavours from our range too.”
Lay’s is an American company that trades in South Africa. Naturally, South Africans have been outraged by the company pushing the American BBQ flavour when South Africa is home to braai and tshisa nyama. This prompted Simba to jump on board and console the South African public. They just launched proudly South African flavours, including Tshisa Nyama and Chakalaka.
And worry not, they still have their Salt and Vinegar flavour too!
Take a look at how many South Africans were hurt and angered by the news of the Salt and Vinegar dump. South Africans have no chill!
There was no good reason for this terrorist attack 😩👏

No more Salt and Vinegar chips is like an ice cream company saying no more Vanilla ice cream or or a beverage company saying no more coke flavour.
