With choreographed dance, costume changes, and moments celebrating South African pride, the Garsfontein senior revue was a beautiful display of talent and South African beauty.

Pretoria, South Africa (06 October 2025) – The curtain rises, the lights dim, and Laerskool Garsfontein’s senior learners take the stage. Suddenly, it’s more than a school revue, but a celebration of South Africa. Dressed in various costumes (and quick costume changes), an aerial dancer behind them and a screen projecting the viral clip of Donald Trump saying, “Terrible things are happening in South Africa,” the learners immediately turn the joke on its head. Instead of doom and gloom, the performance celebrates all that is good about the country.

The energy was electric. One moment the students moved in perfect sync under dramatic lighting, the next they were in an upbeat dance routine that had the audience clapping along.

Costume changes happened seamlessly as the music shifted from fast to slow. A young girl then took centre stage, her voice filling the hall while iconic South African images appeared behind her: the Springboks’ banner, a painted hut, the Big Five, the protea flower, and the Soweto Towers. The final image read boldly: “RSA is my DNA.”

The performance had become a mixture of culture, pride, and creativity. Starting with a playful reference to a viral comment had become a heartfelt tribute to the country and its people.

As one caption said: “Laerskool Garsfontein’s Senior Revue wowed South Africans with the learners’ passion, talent, and the perfect combination of music and choreographed dance.” It’s hard to argue with that, because the learners truly delivered a show to remember.
