Portrait photographer Gerrard Gethings is going viral again for his pet versus pet owner look-alike series he did in 2018.
Global (21 December 2021) – London-based photographer Gerrard Gethings captured a series of photos in 2018 that have gone viral every year since. His series features “pet owners” that look like their pets.
It all started at the park where Gerrard saw a bearded man walking his Schnauzer. The pair looked like each other, and he became inspired to explore the concept.
When Gerrard started his series, he would photograph the pets first and then have the “owner” match their look. He eventually captured 50 pairings and created a memory game. The game is created so that you have to match the owner with their pet.
Gerrard did disclose that the “owners” in the series are, in fact, casted models. Once the pets were photographed, he would try to find the perfect human match. The effect is fabulous!
Every year the photos resurface on the internet, and they bring with them a splash of joy that comes with seeing cute animals on the internet.
