After months of tireless fundraising, collaboration and dedication, the beloved swimming complex at Grabouw High School has been restored to its former glory!
Grabouw, South Africa (19 November 2025) – Following months of fundraising and hard work, the Grabouw High School swimming pool renovations are finally complete!
The renovation project was spearheaded by SOS Africa earlier this year in efforts to rejuvenate and reopen the school’s swimming complex after it fell victim to the COVID-19 pandemic and vandalism, resulting in its closure.
The 25-metre swimming pool facility used to be one of the community’s most celebrated facilities, hosting competitive swimming galas for the region’s athletes and vital swimming lessons for beginners of all ages.
Now what once was, will be again!
Thanks to the generosity of SOS Africa’s appeal sponsors and the skilled expertise of the various construction companies involved, the pool has been transformed and is just about ready to be reopened.
“Now we hand over to the staff and students of Grabouw High School to add their artistic flair to the surrounding walls before the official opening at the start of the school year in January 2026,” SOS Africa said.
“We cannot wait to open the pool gates to the children of Grabouw. Let the swimming lessons commence!”
This inspiring accomplishment has already ignited a wave of excitement online, with community members sharing fond memories and applauding the effort.
“So many wonderful memories at that pool as kids. Well done to all involved,” said Carlin Groenewald.
