Uncle Trevor has been more than ‘just a driver’ in Rebecca Copeman’s high school journey, so it was only fitting that he be behind the wheel for Rebecca’s biggest milestone yet!
Graaff-Reinet, South Africa (05 May 2026) – For years, Union High School, Graaff-Reinet driver, Mr Trevor Zali, has been a steady and familiar presence in Grade 12 learner Rebecca Copeman’s school journey. He’s safely driven her home from the hostel on Friday afternoons, to sporting fixtures and to so many of the moments in between.
Through these seemingly ordinary trips, a truly special bond was formed, the school shares in a post.
So, when the time came for one of the most important milestones in her school career, Rebecca knew exactly who she wanted by her side.
In the sweetest gesture, Rebecca asked Uncle Trevor to be the one to drive her to her Matric Farewell.
“A full-circle moment that speaks volumes about gratitude, respect and the relationships that shape our learners’ lives,” Union High School shared.
Images were shared as part of the post, showing the sweet moment Rebecca held up a poster, asking Uncle Trevor to drive her to her most special journey – her matric dance. A second image captured the full circle moment, Uncle Trevor did just that – dropping off a beautiful Rebecca to the matric dance red carpet.
How special!
South Africans online couldn’t help gushing at the heartwarming gesture, applauding Rebecca for honouring Uncle Trevor for being such a constant in her life.
“Such an awesome gesture, Rebecca. Your family can be justifiably proud of you,” Elmarie Retief wrote.
