A wonderful show of Capetonian kindness will keep thousands warm, clothed and fed throughout winter’s coldest chapter.

Cape Town, South Africa (26 June 2026) – It has been another incredible year of support from Cape Town’s communities at the coldest time of year.

The Keep Cape Town Warm campaign has officially wrapped after eight weeks of rallying kindness. Thousands of essential items have been donated, and a whopping R310,000 has been raised to help vulnerable people through the colder months!

The annual campaign is hosted by Good Hope FM in partnership with Community Chest and the City of Cape Town. Every winter, for a decade, it has encouraged residents, schools, businesses and organisations across the Mother City to donate blankets, food and other essentials for people who need them most.

Keep Cape Town Warm aims to help hundreds of families, shelters and vulnerable communities before winter reaches its coldest point.

By the end of the campaign, 3012 blankets, 12,238 food items and another 135 donated items, including children’s clothing, shoes and toys, had been collected. Donations arrived throughout the course of eight weeks, and they were distributed to communities immediately so people could benefit before the harshest winter weather set in.

The campaign also raised R310,000, thanks to generous financial contributions from Community Chest (R150,000), Barons (R100,000), Capitec (R50,000) and Pick n Pay (R10,000). The funding will be used to buy even more blankets, food and other essential items for those facing a difficult winter.

As part of the partnership, 20% of all donations will also support the City of Cape Town’s community upliftment programmes, ensuring the kindness reaches even more people who need support across the city.

The Roger Goode Breakfast Show led much of this year’s campaign, broadcasting live from schools across Cape Town and encouraging listeners to get involved. Other Good Hope FM presenters also helped spread the message and inspire support throughout the campaign.

“Every winter, Capetonians remind us what this city is made of – massive heart, massive generosity and massive life-saving impact. This year has gone even higher. Thanks to our listeners, schools, partners and communities, thousands of people have already received blankets, food and essential items as the donations came in, ensuring help reached those in desperate need before the worst of the cold arrived. We are deeply grateful to Community Chest and the City of Cape Town for standing with us once again. Keep Cape Town Warm is proof of what happens when a city unites – one blanket, one tin of food and one act of kindness at a time.” shares Masi Mdingane, Business Manager for Good Hope FM and 5FM.

Every donation and contribution means that someone stays warmer and safer this winter. This is what happens when a city rallies for a good thing!
