The countdown to Goodmass has begun and for the sixth day of Goodmass, we’re featuring the Walking the Daisies event, an incredibly different way to do good, have fun and give back at the same time.
Good Things Guy spent the year doing good things in partnership with First Choice and their #Move4Goodness campaign, from planting trees after the Knysna fires to cleaning beaches and even teaching kids about the environment… so we’ve decided to look back at the year together, and bring you all the Top stories of 2017 (with all the updates of the people who inspired us this year).
This is the 10 days of Goodmass, good news stories to uplift you, just in time for the holiday season!
For the 6th day of Goodmass, we’re featuring the Walking the Daisies event, an incredibly different way to do good, have fun and give back at the same time.
There isn’t an event that can compare. With flowers in bloom and boundless positivity and laughter in the air, join in for this two-day festive walk of action, filled with great people, exploring our beautiful coast line, music, camping, dancing, and so much more… who knows you may even be inspired!
Brought to you by UNITlogic and Sustainable Brothers & Sisters, in association with Rocking the Daisies and Steyn Entertainment, Walking the Daisies is an annual two-day hike that starts in Cape Town on Wednesday 4 October and ends on Thursday 5 October with an arrival at the Rocking the Daisies 2017: 5-8 October in Darling.
Rocking the Daisies developed the initiative into a group experience and Walking the Daisies grew from 20 walkers in 2009 to 150 in 2016. It is now a widely acclaimed event that supplements the festival’s aim to create and promote positive environmental action, facilitate conscious dialog and raise awareness about the social and environmental challenges we face today.
The Good Things Guy joined First Choice on their #move4goodness campaign this year and walked the 48km with Walking the Daisies.
The #move4goodness campaign is all about getting people to upload videos of themselves dancing. Every video uploaded meant a donation by First Choice of R100. The end goal is to raise R120,000.00 which will be given in milk products to those in need. The campaign was also designed to encourage people to live better, healthier lives.
“Walking the Daisies supplements the festival’s aim to create and promote positive environmental action, and raise awareness about the social and environmental challenges we face today,”
“This ties in perfectly with our wider corporate approach to responsible and sustainable farming and manufacture practice.” – Tinus Pretorius, First Choice’s GM Sales and Marketing
Readers can still get involved and upload their #move4goodness videos by using the hashtag #move4goodness and tagging @firstchoiceSA.
