Hot Cares has partnered with Boikanyo, the Dion Herson Foundation, to bring joy and independence to 108 children with cerebral palsy in rural South Africa. This heartwarming initiative, known as the Chair’ished Children Project, provides specialised wheelchairs to these children, allowing them to experience the world in a new way.
Tzaneen, South Africa (05 December 2024) – ‘Tis the season of giving, and in a truly heartwarming gesture, Hot Cares, in partnership with the Boikanyo Dion Herson Foundation, is delivering specialised wheelchairs (buggies) to 108 children diagnosed with cerebral palsy in deep rural South Africa.
This initiative is part of their Chair’ished Children Project, aiming to provide these less fortunate youngsters -undeservingly denied the joy of fully enjoying their childhood- with the gift of freedom, independence, and mobility.
Despite the challenges faced by these children and their families, the Chair’ished initiative is making a profound impact, having distributed hundreds of buggies across underserved areas like KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Eastern Cape, and Mpumalanga.
For many of these children, a buggy means sitting upright, attending school, and being part of their community for the first time.
This December, with the support of Hot Cares, a non-profit company based in Johannesburg that plays a crucial role in uniting the community to assist those facing difficult circumstances, Boikanyo will be able to reach even more children.
This is made possible by a generous donation of R52,000, which will cover the remaining costs for repairing donated buggies and purchasing wheelchair parts, as well as providing fortified meals to help combat malnutrition—all in time for Christmas!
“A million thanks for sponsoring an element of our upcoming outreach that we didn’t budget for. More and more children have been added to the list and we are now renovating 108 buggies in Tzaneen. So, grateful to these wonderful people,” Boikanyo said.
“We’re honoured to play a part in supporting this vital work and bringing hope to these children and their caregivers. This is what the spirit of Christmas is all about—making a real difference where it matters most,” Hot Cares added.
