Anele Mdoda and her son Alakhe are turning up the heat in the kitchen, showing South Africa that the best recipe for unforgettable memories starts with family, a dash of love, and a sprinkle of laughter on Ready Steady Cook SA!

Johannesburg, South Africa (12 January 2025) – South African radio queen and media dynamo Anele Mdoda is about to step into a different kind of spotlight, one that’s filled with sizzling pans and the mouth-watering aroma of culinary creativity. She’s teaming up with her son, Alakhe, for a special back-to-school episode of Ready Steady Cook South Africa – and we’re absolutely here for it!

Anele and Alakhe will be taking on the heat in the kitchen on Monday, 13th January 2025, at 19:00 on SABC3. The dynamic duo’s cook-off promises not only delicious dishes but also a heap of laughs and heartwarming moments. And honestly, we’re not writing this because we’re die-hard fans of the show – we haven’t even watched a single episode yet (we’ll admit it). But what caught our attention is the incredible bond between this mother-and-son duo and how they’re turning cooking into a memory-making adventure.

Anele has always been very public, both on social media and on her radio show, about her incredible relationship with Alakhe. Their bond is nothing short of inspiring, and seeing them take on this culinary challenge together beautifully highlights the love and joy they share.

Cooking with your kids isn’t just about feeding the family; it’s a recipe for quality time, life lessons, and belly laughs. Anele’s involvement with Alakhe in this challenge highlights exactly that. With only 20 minutes on the clock and a limit of five ingredients, the pair will need to pull off some serious culinary magic. But win or lose, it’s the togetherness that truly counts.

“We are thrilled to be part of this exciting cook-off,” Anele shared.

“The best memories are made in the kitchen, and we hope this inspires more parents to spend quality time cooking with their kids. It’s a wonderful way to bond and create something special together.”

And let’s be real, after hearing about this, we might just tune in – not for the competition, but to soak up the pure joy of seeing this mother-and-son team in action. We can only imagine the jokes, the banter, and maybe even a kitchen mishap or two. (Alakhe’s surely got some tricks up his sleeve!)

So, if you’re looking for a little inspiration to kick off the back-to-school season, this might be the perfect excuse to gather the family around the TV. You might even feel inspired to whip up your own five-ingredient masterpiece in the kitchen afterwards.

Who knows? This could be the start of a family tradition.
