The Animal Welfare Society Stellenbosch has been bestowed with the honour of being named the Best Animal Non-Profit Shelter for 2023.

Stellenbosch, South Africa (18 August 2023) – The Animal Welfare Society Stellenbosch (AWSS) was named the Best Animal Non-Profit Shelter for 2023 by MEA Markets African Excellence Awards 2023. The award has left the team in awe and they are overjoyed to have all their hard work recognised.

According to the website, the African Excellence Awards are an essential guide to the key sectors driving growth throughout the continent, rewarding those outstanding companies and individuals whose entrepreneurship has strengthened Africa’s position as the next global economic powerhouse. The winners are determined through an innovative selection process based on merit, and the strict criteria ensures that only the most deserving go on to be successful in the programme.

Jessica Perrins General Manager of AWSS says that she “is humbled and honoured to accept this coveted international award on behalf of the Executive Committee of AWSS, the outstanding team and those who selflessly contribute towards their cause and share their vision enabling them to better the lives of all animals within their area of operation and invites all South Africans to share in their glow by supporting the life-saving work of AWSS.

Recognising all animals as sentient beings with the right to a good quality of life, devoid of pain and suffering lies at the heart of everything we do at AWSS, and I am so pleased that after 65 years of transforming and positively impacting countless pets and their owners lives our efforts have finally been recognised and rewarded in such a magnificent way on the world stage.

This is an extremely competitive and sought-after category to win, and I wish to thank the MEA Markets African Excellence Awards for bestowing us with this coveted award which will strengthen our international image and go a long way towards putting AWSS at the forefront of everyone’s mind and inspire us to continue giving of our best”.

The win is a well-deserved one indeed!
