Bryoni Govender’s national costume is easily the fiercest in the kingdom! Representing South Africa at Miss Supranational like a leopard queen, here’s the beautiful reason this look was chosen as a slice of SA’s spirit:

Global (05 July 2024)—Bryoni Govender has once again wowed the world with her breathtaking beauty, grace and ability to present a slice of South Africa’s spirit in a single look thanks to the reveal of her national costume for the 15th Miss Supranational pageant.

Last year, Bryoni’s national costume for Miss Universe, to no understatement, stole the show thanks to its African-Indian interpretation of South Africa that visually captured symbolic notes of South Africa’s heritage as designed by Casey Jeanne Walters. Beyond her iconic look, it was at that pageant that Bryoni made South Africa enormously proud after she was chosen to be part of the Voice for Change’s Top 10 silver cohort, showcasing her dedication to change-making efforts beyond glitz and glamour.

Now, Bryoni’s back in the international spotlight as she prepares to take part in Miss Supranational this Saturday; an event she shared she worked tirelessly to prepare for in April already.

This time, Bryoni’s national costume designed by Hollywood Costumes SA, took a different approach to representing South Africa by focusing on our fierce spirit captured through leopard print in a garment that looks ready for a superhero’s battle.

Inspired by the member of the Big 5’s affinity for adaptability, the designers thought the leopard the perfect muse for the costume. Like leopards, South Africans are resilient; able to thrive in diverse environments and apt to adapt to them—no matter how tough these landscapes might appear to others.

Needless to say, it’s no surprise that this costume earned its place in the Top 20 National Costumes—its fabulous, fierce, feminine and badass just like the lawyer and beauty queen Bryoni.
