Bloukrans

Hold onto your office chair, this video of the Bloukrans bungee jump is most likely going to turn your legs to jelly or make you want to go jump it too!

The video was filmed by film student Chinmay Kerkar while he was living and working in South Africa. He created the video montage as a way to document his emotion and energy during the jump.

It is situated at Bloukrans Bridge on the N2 Highway at the border between the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape in the Tsitsikamma area of South Africa’s Garden Route.

“The view from Africa’s highest bridge captures all the majesty and tranquility of the Bloukrans River valley.”

“Recognised as the ‘highest bungee from a bridge’ in the world, Bloukrans Bungy uses pendulum bungee technology.”

The jump is the highest commercial bungee jump in the world! It is a massive 216 metre drop down! The bridge jump has been accident free since 1997. The bridge is also a responsible tourism supporter by employing 60 people from the surrounding areas. A significant percentage of turnover has been paid over to the local community trust since 1998.

The bridge also holds a few Guinness world records. There are a few for multiple jumps in one day. One guy did 107 jumps in 9 hours and donated the money raised to the local community.

“Mohr Keet set a Guinness World Record as the oldest person to bungy jump when he jumped from Bloukrans Bridge on 6 April 2010 at the age of 96.”
